High on the side of the mountain overlooking Belfast Lough stands beautiful Belfast Castle. It was built in the 19th century by the Marquis of Donegall, who willed it to the Shaftesbury family, who in turn eventually gave it to the city of Belfast in 1934.
Today the castle and its grounds are widely used by the citizens of Belfast. We had many intrigued listeners who were, like us, braving the cold wind in the gorgeous gardens. Here we warbled several songs before hurrying inside to thaw out and send our voices up the magnificent stairwell to the upper stories.
